Hey there! My name is Rai. I have recently moved to the Scottsdale area from Texas where I worked as a veterinary technician for the past 5 years and previously in Florida as a vet tech for 5 years as well. I have also been pet sitting and giving in home hospice care (helping give, and teaching how to give medications to your pet) for the past 5 years. My goal while you leave your fur babies in my care is to make sure you have peace of mind while you are away.
Before becoming a veterinary technician in a mid-sized neighborhood practice, I previously worked directly with animals in organizations such as the Honolulu Zoo, the University of Florida Veterinary College, the Houston Zoo, and the Landry’s Aquarium Group. In my time working as a zookeeper, I’ve worked with animals such as koalas, white tigers, sloths, sea lions, birds, and a multitude of reptiles and amphibians. If it walks, crawls, or flies, I’ve probably cared for it!
Most recently, I have worked as a senior technician for 5 years at a mid-sized, 3 doctor practice in Houston, Texas. Most of the time, I assisted the doctors in routine appointments and surgeries. My responsibilities included daily care of hospitalized patients, blood draws, catheter placements, daily care from trauma, oral and subcutaneous medication, preparing and monitoring animals before, during and after surgery, dental cleanings under anesthesia, greyhound corn removal, preparing medication for our in house pharmacy, and going to patients houses to check on or assist the owner in continued medical care of their pets. I also assisted doctors for house calls when an animal was too sick to come into the clinic.
Many of my original clients came from the clinic I was working at for two reasons: they needed someone to help them learn how to care for their pet while it was undergoing treatment for an illness or injury, and more importantly, they wanted someone who truly cared as much for their pet as they did. I helped my clients by offering walks, visits, play times, overnight care, administration of medication, wound care, and taught clients how to give oral and subcutaneous medication. Because of my extensive clinical experience, I also knew when it was necessary to transport any emergencies to the clinic if needed, instead of waiting for a telephone consult from a vet on a hotline.
I’m confident that my extensive experience will give you the confidence to book Curious Tails the next time that you have a need for pet sitting. I treat my own animals as if they are family, and will treat yours as if they’re part of mine.
